One way to stop the spread (other than not using Microsoft stuff) is to copy the following files to a floppy and then delete them from your system.
These files are generally located in the winnt\system32 directory, but copies may be in other locations. (windows\system32 on 95/98).
After doing this the virus appears to be disabled. The virus was detected by one of the major virus protection software programs but it only notified me about the virus, it did not seem to stop it. Since we do not use Outlook I am not sure if the virus software stopped the distribution mechanism, but the worm did alter the registry and create .vbs files.
These tests and this solution were done using Windows NT 4.0. Removing Vbscript.dll and Wscript.exe may cause some problems with other applications . Keep the files around so you can put them back immediately if necessary, or later when this has all settled down.
If you are already infected there are many fixes floating around. You can try this one from Teq-international (which appears to work based on the source code).
You must use their Visual Basic script
